Lucas Estrella-Puig was born in Santiago, Dominican Republic. He started working in the film industry in 2013. His first film Luz Roja was made with the help of the Santiago Film Institute (Incines) and won the People’s Choice Award in the Funglode Film Festival in 2013. Vanilla is his second film and it explores a different way of exposing a controversial topic in the Dominican Republic.
