Director Biography – Yesid Lopez

Born and raised in Colombia and based in NYC, Yesid has worked as a professional dancer and choreographer for over 20 years. His credits includes STEPS on Broadway, Ballet Hispanico of New York, Dance Times Square, Peridance Dance Center, Peridance Contemporary Ballet and Royal Caribbean International. As an upcoming filmmaker, Yesid brings his own style of storytelling through his love for poetry, dialogue and words. His vast experience as a performing artist allows him to embody the process of the physical and emotional aspects of directing. Yesid’s commitment to keep learning and improving is his most valuable attribute in his quest to create an outstanding body of visual and narrative work.

Director Statement

Our stories define the meaning of our existence, they are they core of our memories and help us shape the most intimate sense of who we really are. Even when we don’t embody them, we could take part on their development by spreading real messages that could create the ideal platform for them to transcend and make a real impact.
“The Other Side of the Rainbow” belongs to that party of tales that deserves to be shared, acknowledged and celebrated. Its intent, is to provide the audience with a beautiful and poetic flow, to recognize the substantial need for true appreciation and to manifest the power of unconditional love.

This short film was developed, produced and delivered by a dreamer who after 20 plus years of performing as a dancer, has decided to pursue his very first dream: cinema. The director currently works as a dancer for an International Cruise Line and has done it for the past 8 years. This has allowed him to utilize his free time to learn filmmaking and to collaborate with other artists for his projects. With no real film crew on board, “The Other Side of the Rainbow” was produced with the clear goal of entering the film festival circuit and with this, introduce the director to the world he couldn’t choose to be part in his youth.

The film has picked up its first official selection and will be screened at the 2022 Official Latino Film and Arts Festival on Dec. 09-11 in Palm Springs CA, USA.
