GEORGE GALLEGO is the founder and CEO of Wheels of Progress. He has lived with a spinal cord injury since 1992. After years of coming to grips with his disability, he moved on to attend and manage a flight school on Long Island. His Master’s degree is in Organizational Leadership and his undergraduate degree is in Organizational Management. He also received a Professional Certification in Not-for-Profit Management from Fordham University Graduate Schools of Social Service and Business Administration. For the past 4 years he has been a world-class athlete competing in triathlons around the world. He mentors at Mount Sinai Hospital and other institutions where young persons with SCI are “housed” temporarily or even permanently. In 2009, George became the president of the New York Chapter of the Spinal Cord Injury Association.
Priscilla-Sky Cartagena, born and raised in Brooklyn to Cuban and Puerto Rican parents, has been a delight to many while spreading her wings across multiple artistic avenues. Her love and skill for dance has allowed her to be a consistent participant in the dance ministry of her home church, New Life Cathedral, Eki’s Famous Preforming Arts, as well as a cheerleader for her schools local basketball team in Brooklyn, NY. When she is not studying or dancing she can be found reading, drawing or discovering new ways to express her creativity.
At the age of 7, Priscilla-Sky was featured as an actress in her first short film for Good Will Industries. “The Commute” depicts the difficulties faced by the disabled community of NYC when traveling on the MTA. Now at the age of 9 she plans to continue to challenge herself for by learning to play and master the sport of tennis.
Priscilla loves to read and teach others. She is well liked by those who meet her and adored by her family. Priscilla is asset to her community and inspiration to all who desire to chase their dreams.
