Catalina submits to the tradition of her people, “La Baláhna”, to demonstrate her purity and worth as a
woman to her beloved, but her body betrays her and she fails to demonstrate her chastity. What future
awaits Catalina in the face of a syncretic love that rejects her?
Director Biography – Xóchitl Enriquez Mendoza

Oaxaca, 1991. Director, screenwriter and producer. She studied film at the Popular Autonomous University of the State of Puebla (UPAEP) and film script at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC). In 2018 she produced in Veracruz, her short film “Franco”, IMCINE, by Mariana Martínez. And in 2020 she won the 20th IMCINE Southeast Region Short Film with “Catalina”. In 2021 she produced his first fiction feature “Bacaanda” by Mario Bustillo. Now, she is developing her documentary debut “The root of my navel”.
