Synopsis

A short documentary that tells the story of two printers (Camila Araya and Daniela del Mar), hailing from Chile now based in Portland, Oregon. They share their journey to create bilingual art that intertwines social justice with the craft of letterpress printing.

Director Biography – Karina Lomelin Ripper

Karina Lomelin Ripper is a first-generation Mexican American director based in Portland, Oregon. Recently, she created and directed the short documentary “La Tienda – Letra Chueca Press” that was awarded a Vimeo Staff Pick. Karina also co-wrote and directed the short film, “The Child And The Dead”, which has screened at numerous festivals, including Mill Valley, Edinburgh Short and was awarded Best NW Short at the Bend Film Festival.

Karina has a background in associate producing on shows for National Geographic WILD and The Discovery Channel, as well as, feature documentaries for HBO and A&E Films. She was a producer on the narrative feature Clementine (Tribeca 2019), attending the Venice Biennale Cinema College Workshop (2016-17) and was accepted into the Sundance Creative Producers summit (2017).

She is also the co-chair of the Portland Film Fatales, a national organization that supports female, non-binary and transgender directors.
