Director’s Biography
Crystal Correa is a writer, director, producer, and actor. Oh, and she loves a good story.
As a kid in a hyper-portable military Puerto- Rican family, she relied on storytelling and reinvention to keep herself entertained. When she worked on a movie set for the first time, the familiar craziness of production calmed her, and reignited her childhood obsessions.
Crystal, her production company’s debut project, is part-love letter, part-heinous reminder of her painfully ridiculous twenties. It premiered at the Hollywood Comedy Shorts Film festival in April 2017.
Correa lives in Los Angeles, where she immerses herself in creative chaos at every chance she gets.
Coming up with “Crystal” was a challenge at first because I really wanted to write a web series that wasn’t so personal . But once I began writing; I slowly started to open up and wanted to share my own fails and mistakes because it’s something no one can take away . Turns out my life is a show; an awkward show which is relatable to a lot of people and, that’s all I wanted to do, so my goal was reached. I wrote a web series, and learned to not be so afraid to share as an artist, which was such a growing and rewarding process.
