Synopsis
Once a thriving U.S. Naval Base in the Panamanian Province of Colon, Coco Solo is now a crumbling ghost town . Despite a lack of running water, sanitation services and reliable transportation, the facility has become a forced home for hundreds of indigent Panamanian families.
Director Biography
Eric Soussanin is a filmmaker born in Washington, District of Columbia, USA.
He is the great grandson of Russian actor Nicholas Soussanin and Russian actress Olga Baclonova.
Soussanin earned his degree Hunter College in New York City in Film and Media Studies.
Director Statement
Eric Soussanin spent a year living in Panamá researching the history of baseball in Latin America.
Soussanin’s shot additional footage unrelated to the documentary and released the documentary short Coco Solo in early 2016 about a once thriving U.S. Naval Base in the Panamanian Province of Colon under United States management and the degeneration of this neighborhood after the Republic took ownership of the Canal almost forty years ago.
The short doc has received acclaim during the 2016 film festival season.
